better-music-nirvana

I just admitted something to myself, a very big thing (big for *me*, anyway – because I am such a music junkie), that I didn’t think I would admit to myself for a very long time, if ever. And that is; Nirvana is my favorite band, and Motley Crue is not.nn**Why is this such a big deal?**nnJust like my (self) admittance that Motley Crue *was* my favorite band (and NOT Def Leppard, like I had been telling my best friend at the time, because DL was *his* favorite band), this self-honesty, this genuine relief on the subject, this truth to self, is a cathartic liberation of my mind, my tastes, and my ideas.nnNirvana made better music than Motley Crue ever made. It’s just true in my mind. There are people who may disagree with that, and that is perfectly OK (think of those who agree with the sentiment that “the 90s sucked” from the movie [The Wrestler](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1125849/)), but for me, myself, and I – I prefer listening to Nirvana any day of the week over *anything* that Motley Crue has ever put out.nnAnd I remember (from ages 7-11 (not the gas station)) when Motley Crue were at the top of their game musically (Dr Feelgood era). And I remember (around that same age range) when Nirvana were at the top of their game musically (basically the entirety of their very brief career). And years later (~30 years of listening to BOTH bands), I have to unequivocally say that Nirvana is my go-to when it comes to music I want to listen to again, and again, and again.nnSo, *WAS* Motley Crue my favorite band for the past 30 years? Well, from age 7 to 30 years old or so, maybe? I still adore their music, for sure. But even though I am 38 years old now, it has taken me the better part of this decade to admit that Nirvana, is just *better*.nnThat’s all. Back later.nn#music #listeningnotes
